[Comparing] Comparing CD directly to image files (ISO, BIN, ...)

hells_creation (28.07.2002)
Support for ISO, BIN etc is essential.
controled (31.07.2002)
We compare CD's to other CD's or directories with this proggy .. so why not make an option to compare to iso and cue/bin or even ccd (clonecd)files.
hakkinen (14.08.2002)
I use Daemon-Tools to mount the images and then compare them as needed. (www.daemon-tools.com)
It's a very good CD/DVD drive emulator.
hkazemi (21.08.2002)
holy cow.. daemon tools is wicked.. thanks man.

n00bs dont know daemon tools. so only n00bs and idiots would request such crap.
dont implement this feature. it would be completely useless since there are dozens of programs which mount cd images directly to drive letters and support way more formats then .cue and .iso
dont invent the wheel again.

LOL! you were a n00b once too! retard! go flame elsewhere!

Disk image testing is one thing lacking from CD Check. But it needs to work two ways... you need to check an Image against the source files on a hard disk and you need to check the Image against the finished CD. Errors can occur in both these cases and burning multiple CDs from a bad Image is no fun at all.

Theres more to a disk image than files and file verification
Theres a great tool called Cdmage for verifying images, but unfortunately theres been no recent updates and it does not handle dvd images.
Cdcheck would do well to take up were Cdmage left off. I believe if you look about you can find the source code now to cdmage.

Nitro (31.05.2003)
Can you give any clues where to find it. I searched
the site but there is no indication that the source
code is available.
CDCheck support (31.05.2003)
Sorry that was my bad er the page I was reading I only glanced over the source code section but it was for a completely different program having rechecked.

I suggest you try an contact the author of Cdmage as although your programs are different there is a relationship between the 2.

I would really like to see a fully integrated image and cd verifier that will handle cds dvds and perhaps in the future the blue-ray or similar. As i said previously theres a lot more to image verifaction than just mounting it in daemon tools and doing a file check, just as theres more to verifying a burnt image than a file check.
I had 1 ps2 game DVD so I could not verify the image with Cdmage. The burnt backup file checked ok in Cdcheck but it would freeze @ the same point every time. I did resolve the issue, and even tho i was using Respectable Infiniti Ritek 4x media, 1c i burnt it to a pioneer/verbatamin disk the freeze point was cured.
Nitro (01.06.2003)
To perform a real cdcheck the burnt copy needs to be read in raw mode bit by bit and can be compared against source raw images ie .iso .gi .ccd .cue/bin .bwi .mds etc
This would be really useful when verifying protected game backups and would be the only way to directly verify Xbox backups
This is not re-inventing the wheel as said earlier by someone. It is purely a method of doing the job in a more perfect manner. The option should be available to the users, file mode, or raw mode.

CD Image-CD comparison was what I was looking for when I was searching for this app - I think it'd be a nice addition.
bob (27.07.2003)
CD-image comparison is very much appreciated and will be a strong point of this nice program, since neither Nero nor Roxio or any other CD mastering programs (as far as I know) provide verifying function after writing image to CD.
In all those program I have used, the verifying is available only for separate data from HD, not for data from an image.

Thank you for your efforts to provide this nice, free tool.

I would also like to add a vote for .iso checking.
While .iso's can be mounted, wxp frequently objects to the drivers involved. Also, it is a big extra step.

Still using this software regularly in 2014. VERY useful.
