[Checking] Using raw +96 reads to detect errors |
|
It should be possible on many drives to do a true raw read including the subchannel data used for error correction, and then use that data to detect unrecoverable errors. I believe this is how CloneCD can do error correction in software. This feature would be useful both for checking and recovery.

If its possible to get the raw data of bad sectors read multiple times , which you could bitwise compare using probabilities with your great statistics, in software.
I have damaged CD's whose sectors are reported unreadable and dismissed which is sad. blabla (29.01.2006) |
